PNG Grades 9 & 10

A modern course to teach high-level English skills to Grades 9 & 10 students in PNG. These books are written by Glenda Giles at Oksapmin High, which was placed among the top 10 performing schools in the country by the Education Department in 2021.

These books provide teachers with the texts and activities to use in class with their students. These books will help students achieve the benchmarks for the Content Standards in the Standards-Based English Syllabus for Grades 9 & 10. The texts and activities will prepare students well for the Grade 10 English and Written Expression exams

Cover illustration is by Michael John. The wavy lines represent the seas that surround PNG. The traditional symbols represent PNG’s rich cultural heritage: duk duk, garamut, mudmen, upe, bilum, kundu, kina shell, and bracelets. The hand represents the helping hand of education.

Author

Glenda Giles wrote these books when teaching at Oksapmin High. Each year her students consistently achieved excellent marks in the Grade 10 English and Written Expression examinations. These books are based on the student worksheets developed by Glenda over the years – they are a legacy of her teaching experience. Glenda is now based in Wewak and is working as part of the Bilum Books team in PNG.
